Italian Sausage & Herb Stuffing
This simple stuffing recipe is made using our Loose Spicy Italian Sausage which is a mild, savoury sausage with flavours of white wine, fennel, and red pepper. If you prefer less seasonings you can also make it with our Loose Breakfast Sausage. Either way it's going to be delicious!

Ingredients

  • (1 lb) 6S Loose Spicy Italian Sausage
  • (8 cups) Unseasoned Dried Bread/Stuffing Cubes
  • (1/2 Cup) Butter
  • (1 large or 2 small) Diced Onion
  • (3-4 stalks) Diced Celery
  • (3-4 cloves) Minced Garlic
  • (1/3 cup) Fresh Sage Leaves - Roughly Chopped
  • (1/4 cup) Fresh Parsley - Rough Chopped
  • (1 tsp) Black Pepper - Coarsley Ground
  • (1 tsp) Sea Salt
  • (4 cups) Chicken Broth - Homemade from your 6S Pasture Raised Chickens of course! :)
  • (2) 6S Farm Run Eggs - beaten
  • (1/3 cup) Parmesan Cheese - finely grated

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease 9x13" baking dish with butter. Use extra butter because life is better with butter!
  2. In large skillet brown Loose Spicy Italian Sausage. Stirring regularly to break up chunks. Remove from skillet, reserve drippings.
  3. Add butter to drippings in skillet and melt, then sauté the onions and celery over medium heat until soft. Add minced garlic and sauté 2 mins more.
  4. In large mixing bowl place stuffing cubes and add sautéed veggies, browned sausage, sage, parsley, salt n' pepper, chicken broth, eggs, and parmesan cheese to bowl. Mix together until bread is moist.
  5. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Remove foil then continue baking for 15-20 minutes longer until golden brown and crisp on top.
